In India, Baja Auto is a major manufacturer of two and three wheel motorcycles. They are the fourth largest producer of these motorcycles in India.
Baja Auto was founded in 1945 as an importer of two and three wheel motorcycles but wanted to start producing their own line.
The government of India issued Baja Auto a license to manufacture their own two and three wheel motorcycles in 1959 and they immediately went into full production.
The demand for affordable two and three wheel motorcycles in India was so great that Baja Auto had already sold 100,000 motorcycles within the first ten years as a manufacturer, and by 1995, their 15th Anniversary, Baja Auto had managed to produce and sell a half of a million two and three wheel motorcycles throughout India.
Over the years, Baja Auto has produced a number of mopeds, motorcycles and scooters, to the tune of one and a half billion dollars of net worth and even managed a placement of 1946 on Forbes 2005 global list.
