Being the worlds oldest and longest running production motorcycle, Chang Jiang, is a formidable and popular motorcycle manufacturer in China.
There is no clear information as to when Chang Jiang first opened their doors, nor is their much information on other manufacturing products offered by them, but one thing is for sure, their Chang Jiang 750 is a 1938 BMW R71 and not a copy neither.
From 1938 to 1941 BMW produced their R71; this particular line was sold to a Russian company controlled by the Germans during the war, who then produced it from 1942 to 1963. Finally the R71 made its way to China in or around 1957 where Chang Jiang still produces that same exact motorcycle today. As of 2007 the Chang Jiang 750 (also known as the BMW R71 or German M72) has been and still is being produced for over 69 years in its originally basic design which had only had some slight modifications over the years.
There is very little information on other Chang Jiang motorcycle being produced but there have been figures estimating that the company currently makes 7 other motorcycles and scooter models all of which are replicas or reverse engineered motorcycles based on Japanese design.
