The TVS Group Company, or better known as TV Sundaram and Sons Limited, has been producing motorcycles, as well as various other automotive components since 1911. The company was founded in 1911, and by 2003 the company made a total income of over 2 billion US dollars a year.
This company is the oldest, as well as the only company in India to win the Deming Prize. As a matter of fact, one of its subsidiaries was also able to receive a Deming Prize.
The first motorised vehicle, would not be released until 1980 when they were to produce their very first two-seater moped. This moped was built at their Hosur factory, which is located in Tamil Nadu, Southern India. Their mopeds are considered to be economical, as well as sturdy and thanks to the help of the Suzuki Motor Corporation, the company was well on the way to be one of the largest producers of motorcycles in southern India.
This company has produced several lines of motorcycles ranging from 1100 cc, to a model which is over 1600 cc. They have also produced a couple of lines of scooters in the 150 cc range, as well as five lines of scooterettes, that range from 60 to 90 cc. But it is there moped lines that are the most popular. These moped lines include five different models ranging from 50 cc to 60 cc.
