Cadillac
General Motors
Cadillac is known as one of the most prestigious domestic luxury car brands in the United States and the World. It is among the dominant premium cars in the entire North America and is known across the globe for its superior technology, glamorous features and distinct style. Cadillac's are produced by one of the Big Three auto makers, General Motors.
Cadillac as a car manufacturer has been recognised exclusively for its sedans. To underpin the growing market, the firm recently expanded its car model list with new sports utility vehicles (SUVs), including the "Escalade," which is famous among celebrities particularly famous hip hop artists and rappers, who love to flaunt their luxury cars in their music videos for added impact among young fans and spectators.
The word ‘Cadillac' is also being used in the US as an adjective that means of high or superior quality. Thus, you would say ‘Cadillac of watches' to refer to high-end watches like Omega or Rolex. In that same way, the brand Cadillac always denotes high-end quality cars that are sold very expensively in the market.
Today's advanced features of every Cadillac car can be attributed to the car company's breakthroughs victories and challenges in the past. The company was founded in 1902 by Henry Martyn Leland, an automotive components manufacturer. Cadillac was named after a French explorer in the early 1700s that discovered Detroit. The company became famous for making the first closed-body car in America called Cadillac Osceola which became a trendsetter in the industry. Famous for its tail finned and chrome-laden automobiles, Cadillac Osceola became popular after World War II.
During the 1990's, the brand lost its popularity but later rebounded and managed to come up with a new concept which was an SUV rather than a sedan. Escalade brought the company back to its top selling reputation, and eventually to a profit swing.
Other than its resilience amid challenges, Cadillac is very much known for its striking contribution to the global auto industry. Cadillac cars were the very first to exemplify and demonstrate advanced style of engineering with superior performance, luxurious getup and formidable style. Cadillac cars were the pioneer in fully enclosed cars, which were introduced to the market in 1910.
Aside from that, Cadillac introduced many firsts in the constantly evolving global car industry. It set a standard when it introduced and pioneered the engine known as gasoline internal combustion that incorporated electric starting. Cadillac was the first in producing V8 engines, that became an industry standard since 1914. In terms of car designs, Cadillac was also the breakthrough brand, which has a body that has been developed by a designer instead of an accredited and recognized engineer.
Manual transmission for increased drivability was also initiated by Cadillac. This led to synchronized transmission autos with gears that are locked to help prevent clashing. Glasses with shatter-resistant safety features were also introduced and first adopted by Cadillac cars. As fore the trivial achievement of the Cadillac, it was the first to use the screw and driver technology invented and introduced by Phillips in 1934.
Indeed, Cadillac has redefined the real meaning of beauty and class when it comes to luxury car making. When it comes to firsts, the Cadillac has always been gutsy in trying out different technologies that can be helpful in the manufacture of its vehicles. Thus, Cadillac's are one of the best car brands in the world.
