Chevrolet / Chevy
Chevrolet is a unique and premium automobile brand that is distinctly savvy and chic. Since the early 1900s when the car brand was built, it has been the source of inspiration and motivation in the global car industry.
As a car, the striking resilience of the brand makes it reputable and well received in the market. Known for its sturdy build, Chevrolet is a premium car brand that is considered top selling. As part of the brands offered by carmaker General Motors Corporation, Chevy, short for Chevrolet, is among the company's blockbuster trademarks that almost always never fail to give out impressive sales figures.
As a brand, Chevrolet currently offers about 20 car models. Included are enhanced versions of the past Chevy models. Chevrolet has been known to offer a range of car products, from subcompact vehicles to commercial trucks that are medium duty. To date, Chevy boasts of having the Impala as the top selling car in the United States alone.
Aside from usual cars and premium vehicles, Chevrolet is now also known to sell a number of commercial and trucks. Colorado, Avalanche and Silverado are among the truck products of the brand. Aside from that, the brand also sells a host of sports utility vehicles and vans. There are buses that bear the Chevrolet brand badge along with GM's general trademark.
Aside from the car features, the history of Chevrolet is one of a kind and is representative of determination and rebound. Chevy was founded by Louis Chevrolet, a race car driver and designer and William Durant, co-founder and former chief executive of General Motors. In 1910, Mr. Durant was ousted from GM. He concentrated on Chevrolet and marketed the car to build its own presence.
In 1916, Chevrolet was already an independent, profitable car company. That year, due to the earnings Chevy generated, the company was able to buy significant equity stakes in GM. Thus, in 1917, due to the controlling stake of Chevy in GM, Mr. Durant was able to return to the board of GM, and was even elected president of the company.
In 1917, Chevrolet merged with GM. Since then, Chevrolet has been strongly identified with GM. Now, Chevrolet still proves that is a very profitable and bankable brand. In fact, for some years now, the brand has been driving sales at GM, especially at the intense North American market.
Chevrolet has been directly pitted against rival Ford Models. Through the years, the battle over domination of premium car brands between the two has been intensifying further and further. But there is so much about Chevrolet that makes it the top choice among car consumers.
First, every Chevy car is a symbol of quality and standard. The lushness of the interior and the beautiful façade of the exterior make Chevrolet unique and more favoured by car owners. Second, the engine power is superb and is very much tied to elegant and reliable performance. And third, the brand is a novelty itself, having a unique logo that is very much associative of quality and superior performance.
