Most of the developed countries in Europe could boast of their own car brands. Countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland and France are proud to have produced companies that are designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing their own types of cars. Sweden, of course, would never get left behind. With its home-grown Saab cars, the country is trailing the path formerly taken and dominated by its peers within the region.
Aside from being a rare Swedish car brand, what else is striking about Saab cars? There are a handful of interesting and outstanding features of this car brand. It may not be because of the nationalistic patronage, but Saab has been the only car brand that was provided with an exclusive deal to provide transportation needs for the Royal Warrant Holder. None other than the King of Sweden gave the exclusive contract award to the company.
Saab is a premium car brand that later posed threats and competition against giants like BMW, Volvo, Audi and Mercedes Benz. It may be true that the car brand was not able to match and outpace the enormity of such well known and recognised brand competitors, but it is not the case that Saab was not able to make its own niche.
Saab Automobile is the Sweden-based vehicle manufacturer that owns, makes and distributes Saab cars. However, the long history of the company does not start simply from there. Saab as a company was started in 1937. Saab then was more of a conglomerate or a diversified company that was involved in the manufacture of other technology products like engines, aircrafts and later, computers.
In fact, the word Saab was actually an English and catchy acronym for the Swedish name Svenska Aeroplan Aktie (B) olaget, which when translated becomes 'The Swedish Aeroplane Company'. Other diversified businesses of the firm include the truck maker Scania and the aircraft assembler Saab Aerospace.
Saab Automobiles were initially designed and distributed in the late 1940s. The car-making unit was later spun off and became an independent and stand-alone car manufacturer. 1947 saw the launch of the first ever Saab car model, which was called Saab 92001. From then on, Saab Automobiles became one of the most sought after and in-demand carmakers across the whole of the globe.
Currently, Saab as a car building company is currently fully owned and manufactured by subsidiary General Motors Corporation. The car brand is continuously making waves within the global car industry.
Another distinction of Saab is its trivial choice of the number '9' as an important part of every single Saab car models it is making and launching into the market. Asked about the number, all the company could say is that the trivial occurrence is just a plain coincidence and is another case of brand consistency.
Overall, the quality of every Saab car is superior, just like other car brands that are awing and astounding the meticulous car owners all over the world. Saab is another brand name denoting quality and superiority when it comes to cars.
